Communities leading the way

Live Well is one of Mayor Andy Burnham’s key commitments to help everyone across Greater Manchester live healthier, happier lives, no matter where they live or what their situation is.

The Live Well movement encourages local services and communities to work closer together so people can get the right support, sooner. It focuses on preventing problems before they start and making public services work better for residents in every neighbourhood.

Crucially, residents are at the heart of Live Well, with decisions, design and delivery driven by the needs of local people.

In Stockport, Live Well continues the commitment and investment from Sector 3, Stockport Council and partners into place‑based, community‑led support, recognising the vital role communities play in preventing serious ill health and helping people stay well.

There are various ways to get involved in Live Well in Stockport, including applying for funding to support your community, volunteering and more. Keep reading to find out how to get involved.

Shaping Live Well, Together

As Stockport’s Local Infrastructure Organisation, and in line with the core values of the Live Well movement, Sector 3 are working with Stockport Council to shift power closer to communities and ensure decisions are made with people, not about them.

How are communities shaping
Live Well in Stockport?

  • Live Well isn’t a new concept. Sector 3 piloted the first Live Well Fund last year, shaped by priorities defined by Stockport Voluntary & Community organisations.

This next round of Live Well funding has been built on learnings from the pilot fund, incoporating feedback from community organisations.

  • Live Well funding panels will include local residents to ensure decisions are rooted in the needs of communities.

  • Feedback from the Live Well pilot fund has been used to amend the funding process to fit with the needs of community organisations.
