Sector3 recruits three new Trustees to its Board:

Over the last few months Covid-19 has hit many of Stockport’s VCSE organisations hard, and at a time when their services have been needed and relied upon more than ever. As the town slowly rebuilds following the pandemic, Sector3 is on hand to support and guide many organisations across the borough get back on their feet.

Driving this forward Sector3 has strengthened its Board of Trustees to help guide the decision making as they enter into the next phase of rebuilding the town’s VCSE infrastructure. The new trustees will help provide leadership, strategic direction and robust governance to Sector3 to ensure they can continue to create a thriving third sector for the people of Stockport.

All of the trustees are volunteers and bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience from their many different working backgrounds; ultimately helping Sector3 achieve its goals and ambitions.

Steve Hughes, Chair of Sector3’s Board of Trustees commented:

“I’m so pleased to see our Board of Trustee’s develop, all with a shared purpose of supporting, and ultimately driving forward the ambitions of Stockport’s third sector. I’m pleased to welcome our new Trustee’s to Sector3 and very much look forward to co-creating with them over the coming months.

Kamran Riaz:

Kamran has an extensive background in media and publishing, having worked as a writer, editor and researcher for a number of publications in both Manchester and Glasgow. Kamran was a young carer for his two siblings, and as a result of his time spent caring he recognised the skills, knowledge and experience he had gained through caring were of value, and that he had something to offer beyond his caring role.

Kamran has used these skills to great effect by being appointed to the Board of Trustees at Signpost Stockport for Carers in 2018, eventually being appointed Deputy Chair of the charity in 2019. During his time at Signpost, Kamran has helped introduce a number of new initiatives and processes to aid the governance of the organisation.

On joining Sector3 as a trustee, Kamran added:

“I have worked closely with a number of individuals and VCSE organisations to broaden my knowledge of the third sector, particularly within Stockport, so I understand the issues facing the sector. I think it is vital that Sector3 represents the voices and experiences of the people of Stockport, and this is something I strongly support and want to promote”.
