Live Well Warm Spaces - Supporting our communities this winter
This winter, Sector 3 has worked with Stockport Council to fund a network of Live Well Warm Spaces across the borough. These spaces are open to everyone and provide a warm, welcoming place to connect with others and get support when it’s needed most.
Local community groups and volunteers are at the heart of this initiative. Together, we’ve created safe, friendly environments where people can enjoy a hot drink, take part in activities, and find out about local services that can help.
You can easily find your nearest Warm Space and see what’s on offer by visiting the Stockport Council Warm Spaces directory.
Cllr Dan Oliver, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Public Protection at Stockport Council, said:
"I’m really pleased to see our Live Well Warm Spaces scheme back for another year, and it’s amazing to see so many local community groups getting involved. I’d like to say a big thank you to all of the fantastic volunteers and staff who help make our Warm Spaces possible and provide such brilliant support for our communities.
"We know winter can be a really challenging time, especially for our older residents. Whether it’s a friendly conversation, a safe, welcoming space, or a tasty bite to eat, our Warm Spaces are here to support you.”
Jo McGrath, Chief Executive of Sector 3, said:
“Rooted in local communities, voluntary and community venues play a vital role in supporting residents through winter. Live Well Warm Spaces combine warmth, connection and early support to help people live well in Stockport.”
Warm Spaces offer comfort, conversation, and early help, making a real difference for people during the colder months. We know winter can be tough, especially for older residents, so these spaces are here to make life a little easier and more connected.
This year, we’ve also introduced Warm Spaces for young people, run by R Time (Stockport’s Youth Worker Network). These are safe, welcoming places where young people can relax, socialise, and take part in activities. They’ve been shaped by young people themselves and are hosted at Stockroom and community centres across Stockport. Details of youth nights can be found on the council’s events calendar.
Warm Spaces are part of Stockport’s wider commitment to building stronger communities and helping everyone live well. They form part of the One Stockport Warm and Well and Live Well initiatives, which aim to provide early help and support close to home.
