Chatty Ideas

“This is a neighbourhood group aimed primarily at people who are isolated or suffering from loneliness. It provides company and a chance to chat and make new friends in a safe, non-threatening and inclusive environment. There are crafts, gardening tips, a book and magazine exchange and guest speakers. Anyone is also welcome simply to come for a chat. We provide a light lunch or refreshments and therefore help those on low incomes.”

Crafternoon

“What we do is provide a weekly class cooperative to share skills locally. The curriculum is completely designed by attendees and delivered by attendees and supports much more than just creative outlets. This active learning ensures the attendees share responsibility not only for the activity but ensures they have a sense of autonomy and importantly belonging to Crafternoon.”

Heatons & Reddish in Bloom

“Heatons and Reddish In Bloom aims to bring a sense of pride to the local area and help foster a sense of community by involving all sectors of the Heatons and Reddish community… It is an opportunity for community groups and friends of groups to build on, or expand, existing planting, while introducing new areas of planting and colour to shopping areas for local residents and visitors to the area to enjoy.”

Early Essentials Stockport

“Often young mums do not have the knowledge or confidence to make new healthy meals for themselves and for baby…The aim is to educate young mums about the benefits (and often simplicity) of cooking healthy meals and to encourage them to be less reliant on purees straight from a jar. This project will give them that support, know-how and sense of empowerment to try new things.”

Gatley Foodbank

“…We are providing x2 days of fun for all the family during the weekend… we came up with this idea of planning a children's breakfast with a children's entertainer.”

Joy Ethic

“We want to trial a story exchange method for adult Stockport residents…The workshops will bring people together through storytelling, offering opportunities to collaborate and form better relationships with others as well as build confidence in cognitive abilities, communication and creativity, no matter age or background.”

Make Build Grow

“Make, Build, Grow is an idea that will empower care leavers and young carers in Stockport to improve and take ownership of their space through DIY projects. By providing the knowledge and advice we will support young people to improve and up cycle a piece of furniture that will uplift and promote ownership over their space, helping them to create a home or space where they feel safe. These projects will be delivered in partnership with Signpost Young Carers and Pure Insight.”

Oldham Drive Estate Tenant’s Group

“We rent the Arthur Greenwood Centre in Woodley and open each Monday morning to provide a place for residents to learn additional skills (e.g. getting online) and a social setting for residents to meet, chat and share knowledge. Attending the weekly group helps to prevent social isolation, improving resident's mental well-being, as well as them learning new skills which helps to keep the brain active.”

Living Beyond a Brain Tumour Support Group

“I am setting up a Community Group to support the children and families of children who have received a Brain Tumour Diagnosis…We will arrange activities on a monthly basis for the young people and families to join in, lead by the children.”

Soul City Church

“Our idea is to plan, run and deliver a series of Games Nights and social events in our community space at Soul City Church. Our idea is to create something unique for people to either come on their own or with friends, receive a warm welcome and connect with each other through an activity that sparks curiosity, encourages creativity and sharing challenges, puzzles, and games. To share joy, encourage people to put down their phones and connect with others.”

SPARC’s Football Group

“Our idea is to enable service users of an established football group to work with, support & empower people who are vulnerable &/or socially excluded to create opportunities towards increasing social, mental, physical & overall general well-being.”

Sustainable Bramhall

“Sustainable Bramhall is a group of people living around Bramhall who are reacting to the climate and nature crises by trying to reduce their impact on our world and live more sustainably. We believe that it is important that people do reduce their impact on the environment and encourage nature to flourish as soon as possible and we hope to be able to inspire them to do this.”

The group would like to extend their reach through more events and promotions for residents.

Village Web Company CIC

“My idea is to provide a series of free to attend digital skills activities and workshops for those in my local area... As key services become digital by default, many of our older residents are being left behind…I would like to offer a range of activities to help them become familiar with using digital devices, increase their digital skills and support them in developing their confidence using digital technology.”
