Support for Ukranians in Stockport

Are you providing support to Ukranian refugees?

As Ukranian refugees start to arrive in Stockport we’ve compiled a list of local support services available to them and those supporting them. Please share this within your groups and organisations so we can ensure refugees get the right information and support they need.

  • Immigration advice - Europia is offering free immigration advice to Ukranian nationals. Email advice@europia.org.uk to book a 30 minute appointment

  • Europia's weekly Ukrainian Community Sessions at Manchester Central Library run every Monday from 2-5 pm.
    Support or advice on welfare benefits, housing, wellbeing or any other issues plus wellbeing and social activities. You can find more information on Europia’s service for Ukrainians, including a link to apply to their hardship fund, here

  • If you are a Ukrainian interested in volunteering or you know someone who is, please email caroline.p@europia.org.uk

  • Guidance and support - Barnardo’s has set up the Ukranian support hotline to provide a holistic support service. The helpline is available to anyone fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. Click here

  • Homes for Ukraine:

    • Reset has launched a matching and training service to pair sponsors and refugees under the UK Government’s Homes for Ukraine scheme. It has mobilised experts in safeguarding to assess sponsors and refugees to make sure that the matching is suitable. Click here to access the service

  • TfGM Travel - All Ukrainian nationals will be able to access free travel on Metrolink, all National Rail services and most bus and coach services in the city-region for up to 48 hours after arriving in the UK. Access to services requires a Ukrainian passport and a boarding pass or ticket showing an arrival date in the UK. For travel onwards from Greater Manchester, all National Rail train operators, and the majority of bus and coach services in England, Scotland, and Wales are also providing this support. Bramhall Methodist Church is open each Friday morning, 10.30am - 12pm, for Ukrainian guests and their hosts to drop in and meet each other.

Fundraising

Greater Manchester Community Response Fund: Ukraine Crisis

The voluntary and support infrastructure organisations across Greater Manchester have joined together on a campaign to raise funds to respond to the crisis.

Donations will support (a) a hardship fund for new arrivals from Ukraine - distributed through trusted community partners, and (b) Small grants to local VCFSE organisations that are playing an active, practical role in providing support.
