Data and intelligence are really important for understanding our local population, what’s going on in communities and helping us make a difference – however keeping track of what’s available and how to access it can be tricky.
Stockport Council will be joining Sector 3 to give an overview of some of the key data sources which can help us understand our neighbourhoods and then give you a chance to have a go at using them with analysts on hand to answer questions.

Vernon Building Society has a long history of giving back to Stockport and Poynton communities. So, in our centenary year, we're excited to announce the launch of Vernon Charitable Foundation. Through grants of up to £5,000, the Foundation will support local charities providing public benefit in Stockport, Cheshire and Greater Manchester, focused on the prevention and relief of poverty and community development.
Please note, the Vernon Charitable Foundation only funds registered charities - you are more than welcome to attend if you are a VCFSE group that is considering becoming a charity, but please bear in mind that you won't be able to apply for funding until your registered chartiable status has been approved by the Charity Commission.

The Indices of Deprivation 2025- What does this mean for Stockport VCFSEs?
For VCFSE sector organisations delivering in Stockport, this is information session breaksdown the IoD headlines.
The Indices of Deprivation (IOD) are a set of measures of "deprivation" across Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs) in England. Produced by Oxford Consultants for Social Inclusion for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Goverment, they provide data that is widely used to inform policy, funding decisions, external reporting requirements, partnership priorities, and service planning.
For the VCFSE sector, this can provide information used in funding bids or to inform service delivery and advocacy.
This session, run by Phillip Taylor, BI Analytics Manager at Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, will be an hour-long information session on the headlines for Stockport. This will be on teams and you will receive the link one day before the start of the event.
