Putting Community First: Supporting Stockport’s VCFSE sector to build resilient communities

The latest Sector 3 Impact Report is a reflection of the progress Sector 3 have made as Stockport's charity infrastructure organisation, supporting Stockport’s Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector.

In just six years we have grown from a team of 2 to 10, expanding our reach and deepening our impact.

Our service is shaped by our values: Independent - representing the voice of our sector and those it supports; Active - driving change and leading through actions over words; Collaborative - building mutually beneficial partnerships to attain the best for our sector and the communities it supports

In 2024/25, we:

➡️ Channelled £1,070,419 into Stockport’s VCFSE sector

➡️ Supported 321 organisations directly

➡️ Brokered 1,312 volunteer connections through the Stockport Volunteer Hub

➡️ Delivered 1,611 hours of tailored support

This report is just a glimpse into the work we've achieved with our sector over the past year to support a healthy and resilient VCFSE sector, one that can continue to play a vital part in prevention, wellbeing and a safe and inclusive One Stockport.

But the challenges facing our sector are real and growing. Rising demand, shrinking resources, and increasing competition mean we must continue to step up alongside our sector to protect and strengthen the foundations of community support.

Looking ahead we are committed to:

✅ Equipping the sector with the tools for long-term sustainability
✅ Growing our grant-giving arm and attracting new investment
✅ Championing the sector’s role in a healthy, inclusive Stockport
✅ Celebrating the vital contributions of volunteers
✅ Strengthening partnerships that value community-led impact

This is a call to action to colleagues, partners, funders, policymakers, and community leaders. Let’s work together to ensure Stockport’s VCFSE sector not only survives, but thrives.

If you can help us with any of the above actions, please get in touch. We'd love to work with you.
